Since its formation in 1991, Louisville native Chad Schumer has developed Schumer Bloodstock into a world leader of its kind. Today, the company possesses offices in Louisville, Newmarket in England, Macau and Pakistan, allowing it to exert a truly international reach.
Chad was just five-years-old when he first became interested in horse racing. With regular trips to Churchill Downs alongside his grandmother having sparked his interest, Chad started to become fascinated with pedigrees and the heritage of the Thoroughbred, which led him to attend the University of Louisville Equine Industry Program - many years later, he makes appearances as a Guest Lecturer.
Today, Schumer Bloodstock specializes in the purchase of horses worldwide, many of them on behalf of overseas clients in Europe, Japan, Australia and the Middle East.

Chad has brokered the deals to stand numerous stallions both in the US and abroad, notably G1 winners/producers such as First Defence, Flat Out, Discreetly Mine, Harlington, Pollard’s Vision and Secret Circle, and is a major partner in the promising New York-based stallion Redesdale, a relation to Danehill who was purchased by Chad as an unraced 3yo for just $18,000 prior to winning his first three starts.
Schumer Bloodstock also regularly sits among the leading buyers at Keeneland, where Chad has purchased the dams of G1 winners Keen Ice, Kip Deville, Stormy Lucy, Round Pond and Rahy’s Attorney (all before they became G1 winners), and is a regular participant at Tattersalls in Newmarket and Arqana in Deauville. It has also been successfully represented in Europe in recent years by leading 2yos Soldier’s Call, whose dam was purchased on behalf a British client, and G3 winner Kenzai Warrior, bought for just $6,000 as a yearling.
2022 is already proving to be another successful year for Schumer Bloodstock, highlighted so far by the win of Just One Time in the G2 Inside Information Stakes and Cabo Spirit’s emergence as a Classic contender just weeks following the purchase of his dam Fancy Day at public auction.
