Shannon White embarked on her Thoroughbred operation, Ballantrae, after the dispersal of Fares Farms in January 2013 where she held the position of General Manager for more than a decade. She has a proven record of managing the broodmares, breeding, foaling, raising, and then either prepping these horses for sale or directing them through their racing careers.
Notable horses coming directly from Shannon's guidance at Fares Farms include CURLIN, twice Eclipse winning Champion Horse of the Year (2007 & 2008) with major racing wins that include the Preakness S-G1, Breeders' Cup Classic-G1,and Dubai World Cup-G1; and EMBUR'S SONG, 2011 Champion Sovereign Top Older Mare Of The Year and multiple graded stakes winner. She also raised and prepped WICKED STRONG for breeder Bill Lynn. He went on to win the G1 Wood Memorial Stakes, the G2 Jim Dandy and ran second in the G1 Travers earning a total of $1.4 million.
Shannon White has been involved in the horse industry for over twenty-five years, initially as a quarter horse owner/exhibitor and as an open show judge. Since 1990 she has been involved with various enterprises in the Thoroughbred industry including breaking & training, foaling and sales preparation.
Shannon believes in promoting the equine industry education and community endeavors. She authored the Lexington Community College Equine Business Management curriculum and served as an adjunct faculty member until 2002. She has also written the curriculum for the Equine Scholars Program at Lexington Catholic High School. She is currently a director for the Kentucky Equine Management Internship based in Lexington, Kentucky. Shannon also serves on the Midway College Equine Advisory Board and the Board of Directors for Horse Aid Live.
