Aron Wellman

Biography:

Aron Wellman, 38, grew up on the backsides of Southern California and worked as a hands-on horseman for various trainers from the time he was 8 years-old until he graduated from Law School in 2002.  While practicing as a litigator, Wellman was forming racing partnerships on an informal basis.  That partnership, Let's Get Lucky Racing, experienced immediate success at a high level, which led to Wellman leaving his law practice in 2008 to become the Vice President of Team Valor International.  During Wellman's 3 1/2-years at Team Valor, the company achieved the highest of accomplishments when Animal Kingdom captured the 2011 Kentucky Derby.  Shortly thereafter, Wellman struck out on his own to form Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners.  In sticking with the "Believe Big" motto and striving to be the "best of all world racing partnerships," Eclipse quickly established itself as a leading partnership company in the United States, as the stable led all public partnerships in Graded Stakes and Stakes wins during its first two years of operation and currently leads all partnerships in all Graded and Stakes categories, as well as overall wins and purse money earned.  Eclipse has campaigned multiple top shelf performers, including Grade 1 winners In Lingerie, Byrama, Capo Bastone, Danza, Curalina and Illuminant.  The 6 individual Grade 1 winners have been won in 4 different states, including New York, Kentucky, California and Arkansas.  Eclipse has hit the board twice with Triple Crown runners.  Danza was 3rd in the 2014 Kentucky Derby and Destin was a narrow 2nd in this year’s Belmont Stakes.  In the spring of 2016, Wellman was elected to the Breeders’ Cup Members Board.
