Dallas Stewart

Biography:

A native of McComb, Mississippi, Dallas Stewart began his thoroughbred career as an exercise rider at New Orleans Fair Grounds as a teenager.

Not long after, he worked under Randy Bradshaw, Mark Hennig and Hall of Fame trainer, D. Wayne Lukas where he was responsible for such champions as Lady’s Secret, Kentucky Derby-winner, Thunder Gulch, and Serena’s Song.  The New Orleans Fair Grounds would bring Dallas his first victory as a trainer with End Display in 1985.

With a confidence developed by surviving the highs and lows of thoroughbred training, Dallas established his own stables in Kentucky and the Fair Grounds in 1997.  When Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, Dallas and his family were greatly affected, but like so many in the Gulf Coast region, he soldiered on and remains to this day a constant fixture on the Kentucky, Louisiana and New York racing circuits.

To date, Dallas has recorded 697 career wins including 16 Graded Stakes Winners; two second place finishes in the Kentucky Derby with Golden Seal (2013) and Commanding Curve (2014); Kentucky Oaks winner, Lemons Forever (2006); the G3 Iowa Stakes winner, Seeking the Title (2010); a “Place” finish in the Preakness with Macho Again (2008), and perhaps one of his most lucrative wins, the Breeder’s Cup Distaff with Unbridled Elaine (2001).

Dallas continues to manage and train 40+ horses at the highest levels of competition and care.  He shares his passion for thoroughbreds with his wife, Yvette and sons, Wesley and Cole.
