Dr. Charles L. Kidder is an equine veterinarian and a Thoroughbred owner and breeder in Lexington, Kentucky. A 1974 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, he began practice with the esteemed Dr. D.L. Proctor, before partnering with Dr. J.K. Griggs in 1976 in a thoroughbred broodmare ambulatory practice. Dr. Kidder works closely with major sales consigners in Central Kentucky thoroughbred markets. Using his 40 years of experience he specializes in yearling, weanling and mare conformation and soundness evaluations. Some significant stakes winners he has co bred include champion female sprinter Informed Decision, Fairbanks, Noble’s Promise, Abraaj, Keats, Leelanau, Macho Macho, Swingforthefences, Times Mistress, Congressional Page, Casino Evil, PSU Grad and more current horses Executive Privilege, Midnight Lucky, Hoppertunity and Normandy Invasion. Dr. Kidder and partners purchased Eclipse finalist Stellar Jayne as a weanling to pinhook, and consequently raced her thru her three year old year before offering her for sale at the 2004 Keeneland November Mixed Sale where she secured a final bid of 3.6 million for the partnership.
The Kidder’s began a longtime owner/trainer relationship with Dallas Stewart after he graduated from the tutelage of D. Wayne Lukas. One of their many runners was a stakes-placed daughter of Mr. Greeley named Solid Platinum. She won four races and $120,000.
With his wife, veterinarian Dr. Nancy Cole, and son, Ben Kidder, the family owns and operates Corner Woods, Inc., a thoroughbred nursery in north Fayette County home to approximately 65 broodmares and their offspring.
