Biography:

Dr. J. David Richardson is Chief of Surgery at University of Louisville Hospital and Vice Chairman at the Department of Surgery at the University of Louisville.  He has been active in several surgical organizations and has held leadership positions in a number of them.  He has also been actively involved in the thoroughbred business as an owner and breeder since 1975.

Dr. Richardson hooked up with Bill Mott as trainer in 1983 and except for a short sojourn when Bill was a private trainer for Bert and Diana Firestone they have almost always had a horse together.  In the mid-1980’s Mott trained multiple stakes winner MRS. Dr. Richardson is a member of The Jockey Club as well as the Kentucky Horseracing Commission.  He is Vice Chairman of Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders of America and chairs the American Graded Committee.  He has a racing stable of approximately 10 horses which are based with a couple of other trainers in addition to Bill Mott.  He also has a commercial breeding operation with about 12 mares.
