Brent Johnson has been attending the races since the late 1970’s. He has been a Thoroughbred owner for over 15 years, with his first winner coming in 1999. Brent has run primarily through his Bushwood Stables partnership. He has exclusively stabled his horses with trainer Graham Motion since 2001, and currently has six runners under his care.
Mr. Johnson is the owner of Better Talk Now, winner of the 2004 Breeders Cup Turf GI and four other Grade I races. A throwback to the durable horses of the early 20th century, Better Talk Now ran 51 times between 2001 and 2009, with 14 wins, 10 stakes wins, nine of them graded, and lifetime purse earnings of more than $4.3 million. He provided an incredible ownership experience running at racetracks in 10 states, as well as Canada, Japan and Dubai. Better Talk Now currently resides with Graham Motion at Fair Hill Training Center.
Brent has also campaigned other stakes winners including Jade’s Revenge and Independent George, as well as numerous additional stakes placed runners.
Brent earned an undergraduate accounting degree from George Mason University and a law degree from Case Western Reserve University. He has spent the past 20 years as an owner and executive of Investment Advisory firms specializing in hedge fund investment strategies.
