Cricket is currently the Executive Director of the Maryland Horse Breeders Association Inc. , the Maryland Million Ltd., and the Maryland Horse Foundation. She started with the organizations in 1986 and has held various positions over the years.

 

She manages the three non-profit trade associations that work to inform, educate, and promote the diversity of the horse industry in Maryland. The Maryland Horse Breeders Association (MHBA) administers the Maryland Bred Race Fund, an incentive fund to encourage people to do their business in Maryland. The MHBA also publishes the Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred, an award-winning monthly magazine covering the industry, and coordinates various public outreach seminars and events.

 

As Executive Director of Maryland Million Ltd. (MML) she has worked on producing Jim McKay Maryland Million Day since the first event in 1986. The event is the second largest racing event in Maryland, after only the Black-eyed Susan and Preakness. Now known as “Maryland’s Day at the Races” it is the signature event of Laurel Park. The event has been so successful that many other states have modeled their regional event days on it.

 

As Executive Director of the Maryland Horse Industry Foundation (MHF) she has worked with the equine industry to establish the Maryland Horse Library and Education Center (MHLEC) on Main Street in historic Reisterstown, Maryland. This facility, designated as a part the Maryland’s Horse Park system will serve as the visitor’s and education center. MHLEC will house a reference library celebrating the equine industry in Maryland in addition to having seminars and speakers, recording oral histories and many other educational opportunities.

 

She currently serves as interim Chair of the Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Foundation. She is the chair of the Rural Legacy Advisory Committee.
