Dr. Blea is a racetrack practitioner and partner in von Bluecher, Blea, Hunkin, Inc., a five veterinarian thoroughbred practice in southern CA. He is the 2014 President of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, and also serves on the AAEP’s Finance and Audit Committee, Racing Committee, CE Steering Committee, and is an On Call Spokesperson. He previously served on the AAEP board of directors from 2003-2005 and on the Equine Welfare, Membership, Nominating, Professional Conduct and Ethics, Public Policy, Scope of Practice Task Force, On Call Task Force, Racing and Student Relations committees. In addition, he has served on the Grayson Jockey Club Research Committee, and currently serves on the University of California, Davis, Intramural Grant Research Committee and on the boards of the Southern California Equine Foundation, RMTC, Equine Health and Safety Advisory Board, the Dolly Green Research Foundation and California Retirement Management Account (CARMA).
