A graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, Jim Chiapetta was a racetrack and performance horse veterinarian prior to entering corporate business law. He has national and international experience in cardiovascular, pulmonary and neurological medical products and technology development. His equine research has focused extensively on exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhage (EIPH) and respiratory system care of performance horses. A co-inventor of FLAIR® Equine Nasal Strips and a principle at Flair, LLC, Jim is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Biovisics Medical, LLC which is pioneering bioelectronic therapies for human degenerative retinal diseases, including macular degeneration. He was formerly intellectual property counsel at Boston Scientific Corporation and most recently Chief Patent Counsel for the Neuromodulation division. Jim developed multi-disciplinary innovation programs and built strong collaborative networks of researchers, clinicians, universities and government agencies to effectively coordinate technology development, and he evaluated and implemented tools to resolve conflicting interests of relevant stakeholders to efficiently deliver new platforms for patient care.
