Biography: 

Joe D. Pagan, Ph.D.

Dr. Pagan received his B.S.A. degree from the University of Arkansas in animal nutrition and received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Cornell University in equine nutrition and exercise physiology. He formed Kentucky Equine Research (KER) in 1988 to be an international research, consulting and product development firm dealing in the areas of equine nutrition and sports medicine. The company’s goals are to advance the industry’s knowledge of equine nutrition and exercise physiology and apply that knowledge to produce healthier, more athletic horses. KER has research facilities in Versailles, Kentucky and Ocala Florida where it conducts nutrition and exercise physiology research with a herd of over 40 Thoroughbreds. KER also consults with feed manufacturers, breeders and trainers globally about the optimal way to feed and manage broodmares, foals and racehorses.
