
Mr. Lear is the Managing Director of the Kentucky-based law firm, Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC. He is a member of the Board of Stewards and Vice-Chairman of The Jockey Club, a Trustee and Director of Keeneland, and a member of the Thoroughbred Club of America. He was educated at Davidson College (Bachelor of Arts, Economics 1972) and the University of Kentucky College of Law (Juris Doctor 1975).
Mr. Lear’s involvement in the thoroughbred industry spans more than thirty years and has included representation in a variety of capacities on behalf of organizations such as the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association/KTOB, Keeneland, the Breeders’ Cup, and The Jockey Club, as well as leading thoroughbred breeding farms and racing stables.
Mr. Lear is a former five-term member of the Kentucky General Assembly, where he served as Chairman of the House of Representatives Economic Development Committee. He has been inducted into the Kentucky Economic Development Hall of Fame, the University of Kentucky College of Law Hall of Fame, and the Bluegrass Business Leaders Hall of Fame. In addition to his thoroughbred industry involvement, Mr. Lear is Chair-Elect of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and Board Member of the Commonwealth Seed Capital Corporation.
Mr. Lear and his wife, Evangeline, live in Lexington, Kentucky. They have three children and six grandchildren.
