About Us:

Remington Park, located in Oklahoma City's Adventure District, became Oklahoma's first world-class horse racing venue when it opened in 1988. Ranked as one of the best racetracks in the country, Remington Park features Thoroughbred racing from August through December. In addition, Remington Park features a casino that opened in 2005 with 750 electronic gaming  machines, the Bricktown Brewery and Old No. 7 Bar & Stage.

Oklahoma’s premier horse racing facility, Remington Park will present its 67-day, 2013 Thoroughbred Meeting from August 16 through December 15.

Opening on September 1, 1988, Remington Park was founded by the late Edward J. DeBartolo, Sr. Remington Park is now owned and operated by Global Gaming RP, LLC; an Oklahoma-based company, which purchased the facility out of bankruptcy, taking control in 2010.

Originally a daytime racing venue, a complete lighting system was installed in late 2000, allowing the flexible scheduling mixture of day and night programs.

Oklahomans passed State Question 712 in 2004 by a resounding margin. The measure allowed Remington Park to offer alternative gaming in addition to its customary live and simulcast racing schedule. The Remington Park Casino opened on November 21, 2005, a little more than one year after Oklahomans voted yes.

The Remington Park Casino offers guests 750 state-of-the-art electronic gaming machines, the Bricktown Brewery and a feature bar and stage. Proceeds from casino gaming are earmarked for education. Through 2012, nearly $89 Million has been generated for the state of Oklahoma Education Fund since the casino opened. Other proceeds supplement the horsemen’s purse structure at Remington Park.

The 25th Oklahoma Derby is scheduled for Sunday, September 29, 2013. The Grade 3 Oklahoma Derby is the marquee Thoroughbred event at Remington Park and the most lucrative thoroughbred race in the state.

The 2012, $400,000 Oklahoma Derby was a wide-open affair at the top of the stretch run with six competitors lined up from the rail out. The widest of the sextet prevailed as Politicallycorrect, despite drifting to the far outside of the stretch, won by three-quarters of a length under Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux. Owned by Kenneth & Sarah Ramsey of Nicholasville, Ky. and trained by Wesley Ward, Politicallycorrect gave the connections their second win in the Oklahoma Derby in the last three years. They scored with Pleasant Prince in the 2010 race.

The 2012 edition of the $300,000 Springboard Mile, the richest race at Remington Park for 2-year-olds was won by Texas Bling. Overlooked by nearly all horseplayers at 128-1 odds, Texas Bling flew between rivals in the final sixteenth of a mile before winning by 1-3/4 lengths. Owned and bred by Hall’s Family Trust of Fort Worth, Texas and trained by Danele Durham, Texas Bling was ridden by Erik McNeil.

Cliff Berry of Jones, Okla. won his 15th Pat Steinberg Memorial Award as the leading jockey in 2012 with 72 wins. It was his third consecutive jockey title.

Steve Asmussen won his sixth consecutive Chuck Taliaferro Memorial Award as leading trainer at Remington Park in 2012, winning 47 races. The Arlington, Texas resident won his ninth local trainer’s title.

The Ran Ricks, Jr. Memorial Award for leading owner in 2012 was won by Danny Caldwell of Poteau, Okla. The 21 winners representing Caldwell during the season gave him his fourth Ricks Memorial Award and his third consecutive title.

Remington Park is open 365 days a year, offering live and simulcast racing along with casino gaming. Admission, Parking and Valet Parking are always Free at Remington Park. Guests must be 18 or older to wager on horse racing or to enter the Remington Park Casino floor. Those under 18 are welcome in all areas of Remington Park, that is not the casino, while accompanied by a responsible adult/relative. For more information, please visit www.remingtonpark.com
