Trainer Bio

Brad enters the 2016 season off a career year in 2015 when his barn won a career high 98 races and earned a career high $3,627,337. Among his best runners were Carve, winner of Oaklawn’s $100,000 Fifth Season Stakes, Grade 3 winners Call Pat and Almasty and Grade 2 winners Spelling Again and Chocolate Ride.

Brad grew up a few blocks from Churchill Downs and earned an advanced degree in racing education under the famed Twin Spires. He broke into the game working for trainers Burt Kessinger and Jimmy Baker before landing a job as assistant to trainer Dallas Stewart. His five-year stint there indoctrinated him to the revolutionary training program pioneered by D. Wayne Lukas and has been passed down through former assistants like Todd Pletcher, Kiaran McLaughlin and Stewart.

Brad set out on his own in 2005 at the age of 25. His barn enjoyed a breakout year in 2014, accumulating 75 wins in 295 starts (25%) and earning $2,394,571 for the year, including his first graded stakes win with Carve in the Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap (GIII). 2015 was an even better year that included 5 graded stakes wins from 4 different horses. In total, the barn won 98 of 367 (27%) starts while running at some of the most competitive venues in the country.

Family includes wife, Livia; sons, Bryson, Blake and Brodie.
