About Us:

The New Jersey Equine Clinic was founded in 1976 by Dr. Fred R. Adams and Dr. Scott E. Palmer. The clinic was originally located in a small garage-sized building located on a 2.5 acre residential lot two miles south of the current location. Additions were made over the years, but the location and zoning of the property limited future expansion. Over the years as many as five staff veterinarians provided a wide range of professional services to horses throughout Monmouth and Ocean Counties. NJEC veterinarians traveled to the Meadowlands Racetrack, Monmouth Park, Freehold Raceway, Atlantic City Racetrack and Garden State Park to care for our patients.

Throughout the years NJEC veterinarians have strived to provide state-of-the-art medical and surgical care to a diverse equine clientele. The original philosophy of the New Jersey Equine Clinic was to provide primary care for local patients and referral support for equine practitioners in the central New Jersey region. Just as the performance horse industry has undergone changes during the past 30 years, the New Jersey Equine Clinic has evolved to provide referral hospital services to horses training and racing primarily in New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland.

In 1997 the New Jersey Equine Clinic was relocated to its current location on 130 acres of rolling countryside in Western Monmouth County. A 12,000 square foot state-of-the-art surgical facility was constructed with stabling for more than 40 horses. This move enabled us to enlarge and upgrade the surgical capabilities of the New Jersey Equine Clinic, making it one of the finest equine hospitals in the country. The unique combination of a modern hospital and a large turnout facility enables our staff to provide continuous professional care to horses with serious injuries until they are prepared to resume normal race training. During the past 32 years the core mission of the NJEC has evolved to focus primarily upon referral services. Today NJEC veterinarians provide referral care for horses showing and racing throughout the East Coast of the United States.
