Riviera Equine is a progressive veterinary practice led by Dr. Phoebe Smith, a board-certified specialist in internal medicine. The first of its kind in the central coast region, Riviera Equine provides advanced, specialty medical care for horses in the Santa Ynez Valley and surrounding areas. Utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and a balance of knowledge and experience, we bring ivory tower medicine stallside.
Challenging internal medicine cases once limited to referral hospitals may now be treated on the ranch. Clinic appointments are also available in Santa Ynez and Los Alamos. We are pleased to have hospital privileges at Santa Lucia Veterinary Clinic and Alisos Canyon Equine Center.
The initiative to provide internal medicine services for horses in a mobile practice was prompted by advances in technology and the changing economic climate . A niche opened for specialty medicine without the cost of the hospital stay at the same time that digital ultrasounds and endoscopy equipment were miniaturized. With experience in teaching hospitals, private referral centers and general ambulatory practice, Dr. Phoebe Smith is uniquely qualified to provide hospital medicine in the farm and small clinic settings.
